These Easy Mummy Halloween Pizza Bites are fun, fast, and delicious—perfect for a spooky dinner before trick-or-treating. Made with pizza dough, string cheese, and olives, they come together in under 25 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) pizza dough, store-bought or homemade
  • 8 sticks (about 240g) mozzarella string cheese
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) marinara sauce
  • 16 whole black olives, pitted
  • 1 large egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon (15ml) water (for egg wash)
  • 1 teaspoon (3g) garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon (2g) Italian seasoning
  • Flour, for dusting
  • Optional: extra marinara, ranch dressing, or garlic butter for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lightly dust a clean counter or cutting board with flour. Unroll or place the pizza dough on the floured surface. If using refrigerated dough, let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes.
  3. Roll the dough into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch (6mm) thick.
  4. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the dough into 8 equal rectangles (about 4×6 inches / 10×15 cm each). Then cut each rectangle lengthwise into 4-5 thin strips, leaving the top inch connected to create a ‘fringe’.
  5. Place one piece of string cheese in the center of the solid top section of a dough strip. Fold the dough over the cheese to cover it. Wrap the fringed dough strips around the cheese, crisscrossing like bandages, leaving a small gap near the top for the eyes. Repeat with all 8 pieces of string cheese.
  6. Arrange the mummies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches (5 cm) apart.
  7. In a small bowl, beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water. Lightly brush the tops of each mummy with the egg wash.
  8. Sprinkle the garlic powder and Italian seasoning evenly over the tops.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. While the mummies bake, cut each black olive in half crosswise to create two round ‘eye’ pieces per olive.
  11. As soon as the mummies come out of the oven, gently press two olive halves into the exposed cheese gap to create the eyes.
  12. Allow the mummies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For best results, keep the string cheese cold until the last minute to prevent it from melting too quickly. Don’t overwork the dough—handle it gently. Watch the oven closely after 12 minutes to avoid burning. You can assemble the mummies up to 4 hours ahead and refrigerate until ready to bake.
