Ingredients

  • Brie cheese (4-6 ounces)
  • Aged cheddar (4 ounces)
  • Goat cheese log (4 ounces)
  • Prosciutto (4 ounces)
  • Salami (4 ounces)
  • Soppressata (4 ounces)
  • Seedless red grapes (1 cup)
  • Fresh figs (4-6, halved)
  • Apple or pear (1, sliced)
  • Dried apricots (1/2 cup)
  • Honey or fig jam (3 tablespoons)
  • Marcona almonds (1/2 cup)
  • Pistachios (1/2 cup)
  • Artisan crackers (about 20)
  • Baguette slices (1 small baguette, sliced and lightly toasted)
  • Cornichons (1/2 cup, optional)
  • Olives (1/2 cup, optional)
  • Dark chocolate (2-3 squares, optional)

Instructions

  1. Take cheeses out of the fridge 20 minutes before serving. Slice baguette into 1/4-inch rounds and toast at 350°F for 5-7 minutes until golden. Wash and dry grapes, halve figs, slice apple or pear and toss in lemon water. Separate prosciutto slices gently. Slice salami and soppressata into thin rounds if not pre-sliced. Spoon honey or fig jam into a small bowl and olives into another.
  2. Place your board on the counter. Position small bowls (honey, olives, cornichons) to anchor the board. Place cheeses (brie, cheddar, goat cheese) spaced apart. Cut brie into wedges, slice cheddar into thin triangles, leave goat cheese log whole.
  3. Fold prosciutto into loose ribbons and place near brie. Fan salami slices near cheddar. Pile soppressata near goat cheese.
  4. Scatter grapes in clusters around the board. Place fig halves near brie and honey. Tuck apple or pear slices between cheeses and meats. Drizzle dried apricots and nuts into empty spaces. Arrange crackers and baguette slices around the edges.
  5. Drizzle a little honey over the brie. Sprinkle pistachios over goat cheese. Add dark chocolate squares in a small cluster. Fill any empty spots with extra nuts or dried fruit. Place cheese knives next to each cheese and a spreader near the honey bowl.

Notes

Let cheese sit at room temperature for 20 minutes before serving for best flavor. Don’t overthink the arrangement; imperfection adds charm. Balance flavors and textures across the board. Prep everything before your date arrives. Stick to 2-3 cheeses and 2-3 meats to avoid overcrowding.
