These adorable mummy pigs in a blanket are the perfect Halloween appetizer. Made with just a few simple ingredients, they’re quick, easy, and always the first to disappear at any party.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 16 cocktail sausages or mini hot dogs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Mustard or ketchup (for eyes)
  • Optional: Everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean cutting board. If using perforated sheets, press the seams together gently.
  3. Cut the dough into thin strips, about ¼ inch wide and 4-5 inches long. A pizza cutter works best.
  4. Take one sausage and start wrapping a dough strip around it diagonally, overlapping slightly, leaving a small gap at the top for the face.
  5. Place each wrapped mummy on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water until well combined. Brush the tops of each mummy with the egg wash.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  8. Let them cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
  9. Once cooled slightly, use a toothpick to dot two small eyes on each mummy with mustard or ketchup.
  10. Serve warm.

Notes

Keep the dough cold for easier handling. Don’t over-wrap the sausages; 2-3 wraps per mummy is plenty. For make-ahead, assemble up to 4 hours ahead and refrigerate, then add 2 minutes to baking time. To freeze, freeze unbaked mummies on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer bag; bake from frozen, adding 3-5 minutes.
