Ingredients

  • Aged cheddar, cubed
  • Brie or camembert, whole wheel
  • Gouda or smoked gouda, sliced
  • Goat cheese log, sliced into rounds
  • Candy corn
  • Mini chocolate bars (Snickers, Milky Way, or any leftover Halloween stash)
  • Gummy worms or spiders
  • Caramel squares
  • Peanut butter cups
  • Assorted crackers (water crackers, butter crackers, or gluten-free options)
  • Sliced baguette, toasted or fresh
  • Pretzel sticks or twists
  • Apple slices, tossed in lemon juice
  • Mixed nuts, roasted and salted
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs
  • Dried cranberries or figs
  • Black olives
  • Edible glitter or Halloween sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Choose your board and bowls: Grab your largest board or platter. Place 2-3 small bowls on the board to hold loose candies like candy corn or gummy worms, plus olives or nuts.
  2. Add the cheese: Place cheese wheels and blocks around the board, spacing them out. Put brie in one corner, cheddar cubes in another, and goat cheese slices in between. Cut some cheese into cubes and leave some in wedges for visual interest.
  3. Layer in the crackers and bread: Arrange crackers and baguette slices around the cheese. Fan them out slightly and place them in small clusters for visual interest.
  4. Add the candy: Fill small bowls with candy corn, mini chocolate bars, and gummy worms. Scatter a few loose candies directly on the board for a playful look.
  5. Fill in with fruits and nuts: Tuck apple slices, dried cranberries, and mixed nuts into the gaps to make the board look full and add texture.
  6. Garnish and finish: Add rosemary sprigs for a pop of green. Sprinkle edible glitter or Halloween sprinkles over the board. Fill any empty spots with extra crackers or nuts.
  7. Serve immediately or chill: Let the cheese sit out for 15-20 minutes before serving if it’s been in the fridge. Serve at room temperature.

Notes

Balance textures and colors for best presentation. Serve cheese at room temperature. Keep extra candy nearby for refills. Mix candy and cheese together on the board to encourage trying unexpected combinations.
