Quick and easy apple dumpling bites made with refrigerated biscuits, cinnamon-sugar apples, and a homemade caramel drizzle. Perfect for a weeknight dessert or family treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuits (e.g., Pillsbury Grands! Homestyle)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (or whole milk)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet or 8×8 inch dish with parchment paper.
  2. Peel apples, cut each into 8 wedges, and remove core and seeds. Pat dry if needed.
  3. In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using).
  4. Separate biscuits and flatten each into a 4-inch round using your hands or a rolling pin.
  5. Dip each apple wedge in melted butter, then roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture. Place in center of a biscuit round, bring edges up, and pinch to seal.
  6. Place seam-side down on prepared baking sheet, leaving 2 inches between each. Brush tops with remaining butter and sprinkle with any leftover cinnamon-sugar.
  7. Bake for 18-22 minutes until golden brown and apples are tender.
  8. While baking, make caramel: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, heavy cream, and butter. Stir constantly until butter melts and mixture simmers. Let bubble for 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla and salt.
  9. Let dumpling bites cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes. Drizzle with warm caramel sauce and serve.

Notes

For best results, use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. Seal biscuit edges well to prevent leaking. Let caramel cool slightly before drizzling for better consistency. Store leftovers in refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat in oven or microwave.
