Easy Witch Finger Pretzel Snacks

Easy Witch Finger Pretzel Halloween Snacks - featured image

These spooky witch finger pretzels are made with pretzel rods, green candy melts, and almond slivers for fingernails. They come together in just 15 minutes of active work and are perfect for Halloween parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12–15 pretzel rods (thick, sturdy ones like Utz brand)
  • 1 cup green candy melts (Wilton brand recommended)
  • 24–30 almond slivers (whole almond slices, not tiny slivered pieces)
  • 1 small tube red gel icing (Wilton or Betty Crocker)
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional, helps thin candy melts)
  • Witchy sprinkles (optional, for decoration)
  • Black sanding sugar (optional, for decoration)
  • Pretzel twists (optional, crushed for warty texture)

Instructions

  1. Set up your workspace: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Have pretzel rods, almond slivers, and red gel icing ready.
  2. Melt the green candy melts: Place in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth (about 90 seconds total). Add coconut oil if using.
  3. Dip the pretzel rods: Hold each pretzel rod by one end and dip into melted green chocolate, leaving about an inch undipped at the top. Let excess drip off.
  4. Place on baking sheet: Set coated pretzels on parchment-lined baking sheet. Angle them slightly for a reaching effect.
  5. Add almond fingernails: While chocolate is still wet, press an almond sliver into the tip of each pretzel, pointed end extending past the tip. Press gently but firmly.
  6. Create cuticle detail: Using red gel icing, pipe a small line at the base of each almond nail for a bloody cuticle effect.
  7. Add wrinkles and details (optional): Use a toothpick to draw small lines on the chocolate for knuckle wrinkles. Press crushed pretzel pieces for warty texture.
  8. Chill to set: Place baking sheet in refrigerator for 15-20 minutes until chocolate is completely firm.
  9. Finish and display: Arrange witch fingers on a serving platter. For maximum effect, stand them upright in a small vase or cup.

Notes

Work in small batches to prevent chocolate from setting. Use whole almond slices for best nail shape. Chocolate should be warm but not hot (bathwater temperature). Store in airtight container in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months. For nut allergies, skip almond nails or use dried apricot pieces.
