A quick and easy peach cobbler dump cake perfect for feeding a crowd, combining canned peaches with a buttery yellow cake mix topping for a comforting, crowd-pleasing dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (29 oz / 822 g each) sliced peaches, packed in juice or light syrup (drain slightly but keep some juice for moisture)
  • 1 box yellow cake mix (about 15.25 oz / 432 g)
  • 1 cup (2 sticks / 226 g) unsalted butter, sliced thinly and softened
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) granulated sugar (optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Drain peaches slightly, reserving about 1/4 cup (60 ml) of the juice. Pour the peaches and juice into your 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading evenly.
  3. Sprinkle cinnamon evenly over the peaches. If you like it sweeter, sprinkle the granulated sugar on top as well.
  4. Evenly distribute the dry yellow cake mix over the peach layer. Don’t stir; the magic is in letting layers form.
  5. Slice the softened butter into thin pats and scatter over the cake mix. Try to cover as much surface as possible for an evenly golden crust.
  6. Optional: drizzle vanilla extract over the top for extra flavor.
  7. Bake uncovered on the middle rack for 40-45 minutes, until edges bubble and top turns deep golden brown.
  8. Remove from oven and let it cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use thin slices of butter for even melting and a crispy crust. Do not stir after adding cake mix to maintain layers. Tent with foil if top browns too quickly. Best served warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Can be made with fresh peaches or gluten-free cake mix for dietary needs.
