A simple, colorful, and refreshing watermelon flag fruit platter made with just three ingredients, perfect for summer celebrations and quick to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium seedless watermelon (about 810 pounds)
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the watermelon under cool water and dry it. Slice off both ends to create flat surfaces (about 1/2 inch each) to stabilize the melon for easier slicing.
  2. Cut the watermelon into 1-inch thick vertical slices, about 7-8 slices to arrange side-by-side later. Use a serrated knife to avoid squishing the fruit. If slices feel slippery, pat dry with a paper towel.
  3. Lay the watermelon slices side by side on your serving platter, forming the ‘flag base’ with flat edges touching.
  4. Pick out a smaller slice (about 2-3 inches wide) from the top-left corner to create the ‘star’ area of the flag. Sprinkle blueberries evenly over this section.
  5. Using a spatula or butter knife, spread whipped cream over the remaining watermelon slices to create the ‘stripes’. Aim for even coverage but don’t worry about precision.
  6. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to an hour before serving. If refrigerating, cover loosely with plastic wrap to keep whipped cream fresh.

Notes

Use a sharp serrated knife for clean watermelon slices. Keep hands dry for better grip. Chill bowl and beaters if making whipped cream from scratch. Assemble close to serving time to prevent whipped cream from sliding off. For dairy-free, use coconut whipped cream. Optional stabilizer or powdered sugar can help whipped cream hold shape longer.
