This creamy copycat Starbucks pumpkin cream cold foam recipe takes five minutes, uses simple ingredients, and tastes just like the real thing. It’s the perfect fall morning ritual that will save you trips to the drive-thru.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream, cold
  • 1/4 cup whole milk, cold
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin puree (100% pure pumpkin)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons vanilla syrup (such as Torani)
  • 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • Pinch of salt
  • Ice, for serving
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee or espresso, cooled slightly

Instructions

  1. Brew your coffee: Start with a strong cup of coffee or a double shot of espresso. Let it cool for a minute or two while you make the foam.
  2. Combine the foam ingredients: In a jar or frother cup, add the cold heavy cream, cold whole milk, pumpkin puree, vanilla syrup, pumpkin pie spice, and a tiny pinch of salt. Use a fork to mash the pumpkin puree into the liquid before frothing.
  3. Froth until thick: If using a jar, screw the lid on tight and shake vigorously for about 30 to 45 seconds until the mixture thickens and doubles in volume. If using a frother, blend for about 20 to 30 seconds until it looks like a thick, pourable cloud.
  4. Fill your glass with ice: Add ice cubes to your serving glass, leaving room for the coffee and foam.
  5. Pour the coffee: Pour your brewed coffee or espresso over the ice, filling the glass about three-quarters full.
  6. Scoop the foam on top: Using a spoon, gently scoop the cold foam onto the surface of the coffee. Do not pour it—pouring will mix it in. Let it settle for a few seconds.
  7. Finish with a sprinkle: Dust the top with a little extra pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon.
  8. Serve immediately: Cold foam is best enjoyed right away. Drink up and enjoy that first perfect sip.

Notes

Temperature is key: make sure cream and milk are refrigerator-cold. Do not over-froth or you’ll end up with butter. Use a clear glass to show off the layers. For best results, serve immediately as cold foam deflates after about 15 minutes. You can make the unfrothed base ahead and store in the fridge for up to 2 days.
